Anupriya Rao, MD

Dr. Anupriya Rao graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. She then attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where her interests were in community outreach at the Maria Shelter for Women and singing in the medical school a cappella group. She was naturally drawn to the field of Otolaryngology (ENT) as a singer, but especially found her passion in caring for otolaryngology patients in the hospital, operating room, and clinic settings. After medical school, she was thrilled to return to Atlanta to pursue her Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery training at Emory University. During training, she worked at Emory University hospitals, Grady Memorial Hospital, the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Egleston. Her research interests were in voice outcomes after vocal fold paralysis and in studying safety of laser use in voice surgery. Her work was presented at the annual Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery society meeting in September 2022, and her research in residency was awarded first place for resident research in the 2022 Otolaryngology Research Forum.

Dr. Rao joined Perimeter ENT after her surgical training and is excited to care for patients of all ages and with the full breadth of symptoms that can arise in the head and neck. Her passion is patient centered care and seeing the patient holistically. Patients with head and neck conditions require care and attention not only to their medical symptoms but also to the profound effect these conditions have on their ability to communicate and be heard. She is trained in all aspects of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) with a particular interest on thyroid and sinus diseases.

Dr. Rao is married to Dr. Birju Rao, a cardiologist in training at Emory University with an interest in pursuing further training in cardiac electrophysiology. They welcomed a baby boy to their family in early 2022. When not at work, Dr. Rao enjoys experimenting with new recipes, hiking and walking around Atlanta, singing, and spending time with her family.
